The story of Chong Pang — from kampong village to modern community hub.
Before 1956, the area around Yishun Ring Road was known as Westhill Village. It was later renamed Chong Pang in honour of Lim Chong Pang, a community leader who dedicated his life to serving the residents of this neighbourhood. The name has stuck ever since, woven into the identity of Yishun's northern heartlands.
The familiar Chong Pang City neighbourhood centre — home to the popular hawker centre and wet market — has served the community for over 40 years. Now, it is being transformed into "Chill @ Chong Pang", a modern integrated development that preserves the kampong spirit while bringing world-class facilities to the neighbourhood.
The new development will house an indoor Olympic-sized swimming pool, two leisure pools, a 6th-floor gym with fitness studios, a hawker centre with 58 food stalls, a wet market with 123 stalls, a community club, and more than 300 car parking lots — all under one roof.
